# Side Chats

> Use a Side Chat for a separate question or direction without interrupting an Agent's main conversation.

A **Side Chat** is a separate mini-conversation in an Agent's right-hand panel.
Use one for a quick question, a different direction, or a side task that should
not interrupt the main conversation.

## How Side Chats behave

* Open **Side chat** from the current Agent's right drawer.
* The Side Chat has its own messages and work.
* Nothing said or done there changes the Agent's main conversation.
* When compatible history is available, Turnstone can copy it into the new Side Chat
  as starting context.

Side Chats inherit relevant settings from their owning Agent, including its
effective Coding Mode and personality.
